June 14, 2021. our group alumnus Mijin Kim, is the finalist for the Victor K. LaMer Award for Outstanding PhD Thesis, and she will present as a LaMer Keynote Speaker at the 95th ACS Colloid & Surface Science Symposium, the ACS Division of Colloid & Surface Chemistry. Congratulations, Dr. Kim!

June 11, 2021. Benjamin Barnes received the Smalley-Curl Institute Distinguished Poster Award from NT21 (International Conference on the Science and Application of Nanotubes and Low-Dimensional Materials, June 6-11, 2021. Rice University, Houston, TX, United States). Ben’s poster was one of the top 3 selected from the more than 200 posters presented at this international conference for his poster: Barnes, B.; Wang, P.; Wang, YH. “An oligonucleotide sensor with parallel electrical pathways.” Way to go, Ben!

June 9, 2021. Our group alumnus Dr. Hamid Latif wrote to update that he was promoted full Professor of Physics at the Forman Christian College Lahore. Cheers!

October 24, 2012. Watch graduate student Alex Brozena explaining some of our group’s research, along with Prof. Bryan Eichhorn and Janice Reutt-Robey, in a movie entitled “Nanotechnology Today – Fuel Cells, Buckyballs and Carbon Nanotubes.” This movie was made by Bytesize Science (The American Chemical Society’s YouTube channel) to celebrate the 25th anniversary of National Chemistry Week.

October 23, 2012. ChuanFu’s poster entitled “Controlling Interfaces for Electrically Interconnected, Non-cracking Si Beads-string Li-ion Battery Electrodes,” won the best poster in the “best visuals” category at the Fall 2012 Meeting of the DOE-funded Energy Frontier Research Center. This work is collaborated with Prof. John Cumings’ group at MSE, Prof. Teng Li’s group of Mechanical Engineering, and Dr. Yue Qi of GM. Our collaborator Khim Karki won the best poster for “best collaboration” and the best oral presentation for the collaborative work.

September 1, 2012. Jia started his independent research group at Tongji University as the “Thousand Young Talents Program” Professor. Way to go, Prof. Huang!

May 10, 2010. Dr. Wang is on the Alumni Spotlight of the Wiess School of Natural Science of Rice University, where he received his PhD degree in 2005.

August , 2009. The Wang group attended the 238th ACS National Meeting, Washington DC, 2009. Shunliu, Jessica, Beiyue, and Alex presented two posters.

March 22-26, 2009. Dr. Wang organized “Chemical Methods of Nanofabrication” symposium at the 237th ACS National Meeting & Exposition in Salt Lake City (with So-JungPark and Chad Mirkin). As one of seven symposia within the meeting theme, “Nanoscience: Challenges for the Future”, the three-day symposium included 25 experts from around the world, to discuss current progress and future directions in nanofabrication. The symposium was co-sponsored by PChem and Nano Programs.

Feb 15, 2009. Dr. Wang presented a seminar at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

January 20, 2009. Beiyue Shao and Joshua de Groot joined the group as undergraduate researchers. Welcome!
